what's happening in Sri lanka does not affect these people
most tamils are naturalised or have permanent residency
even recent arrivals who currently have refugee status will not be affected
the newspaper(Island ??) can't understand laws in these countries
refugee status is not a visa that can be canceled
some even think that all these people live on refugee status till they die
refugee status leads to permanent residency
permanent residency leads to citizenship
I asked you in another thread about this... guess you have not seen it, anyway what does this means?
I quote from this site
http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/caris/legal/srandi/sr_18.php
A review of the refugee’s status in the UK can occur anytime during the five years and can be triggered by one of the following:
1. As a result of a refugee's own actions (or alleged actions) e.g by taking on another nationality or availing themselves of the protection of their country of origin, or acquiring refugee status as a result of deception or exclusion provided under Article 1F of the 1951 Refugee Convention.
2. Where there have been signification change in country conditions
If the latter applies, the refugee will have an opportunity to make any submissions of their circumstances which the Home Office is obliged to consider before withdrawing refugee status.
If following a review, it is no longer deemed necessary that the refugee requires or is entitled to protection in the UK, their leave to remain will be withdrawn and leave curtailed under paragraph 323 of the Immigration Rules unless s/he qualifies for leave to remain under another category.
