    The Three Ages Of Man

A hours,an ox and a dog, all emaciated by the winter came to the house of a certain man.The man welcomed them, lit a fire and provided them warmth. He then gave barley to the hours, chaff to the ox ,and to tha dog he gave food from his table. In return for hospitality tha animals expressed their gratitude and requited him with part of the years of their lives. The hours gave him his first years, which is why man is rash and haughty in his attitude. The ox gave him his middle years. So man is wretched and bent on hard work to amass wealth. The dog was third,he gave him his last years. It is on account of this that all men, when they grow old,are irascible, loving only those who give them food and whining and greeting them, whereas they bark and snap at those who don't
