Titanenwurz im Botanischen Garten der Universität Bonn
The world’s biggest flower, a prized titan arum, entered a brief period of blossoming last week at Bonn University’s Botanical Gardens and thankfully, we’re able to experience the event through sped-up video footage instead of in person — the plant is known as the “corpse flower.”
“People want to know if it really does smell as badly as its reputation, and I can tell you it does,” said biologist Erwin Grill. “It’s something like the smelling of rotting carcasses.”
