The general process of determining the entitlements following separation then proceeds in a four-step approach:</p><p></p><h4>1. Determining all property owned by the de facto couple.</h4><p>This includes any asset, liability or financial resources owned by either party. There is no way to prevent any asset to be seen by the other party as you have an obligation at law to <a href="https://www.australianfamilylawyers.com.au/information-centre/full-frank-duty-disclosure-family-law" target="_blank">disclose everything</a>. In other words, you must put “everything on the table”. Don’t worry, this does not mean you will lose everything!</p><p></p><h4>2.
