However, the passengers of the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai Rockfort Express  escaped unhurt when the explosion took place at 2:10 am blowing off  about three feet of tracks. The driver, who received a warning from the station master, applied  emergency brakes averting what could have been a major disaster. Quoting police and railway sources, media reports state that pamphlets  condemning the visit of Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa were  recovered from the spot.
