    1. Don't always refresh homepage, instead use the forum home with EK Lite skin
    http://www.elakiri.com/forum/

    2. Disable all those so called privacy erasers and browser settings which clear browser cache every time you close it. When you clear them you have to load them everytime you open the page. So it takes lot of time and bandwidth. Most of the banners are not changing everyday so it should not make big problems, if you allow the default cache of the browser.

    3. As you already know most of the spam combat and human verification techniques needs at least basic IT knowledge of the user. But srilankans are so new to forums and standard spam combat techniques might prevent them from registering or posting.
So due that knowledge level we have to use lot of algorithm based spam combat techniques to prevent international spammers flooding our boards.
So it takes lot of server power. Like that i can explain lot of scenarios in Sri Lankan web market.

We are using very costly high end technologies for web servers, caching and clusters but still it's hard to handle the load with so much users and so much posts in the database.
So the only option is to invest on new servers. We will do that as soon as we get the financial strength for that.
I am visiting this site everyday and doing lot of moderation work. I know site get bit slow time to time in the evening - night hours but its an acceptable speed. All other times this loads lightning fast like a static file site thanks to the investment and the optimizations. So until we upgrade lets use the resources we have wisely. :D

Dont you mean the EK Main skin ? No ads. banners, etc in the Main skin and the site loads in less that 10 seconds with it.

Delete or offload the old threads to a forum archive. No need to keep ancient threads/posts and fill up the database. Also, close the chat bar by default. That thing is a performance killer. Anyone who wants to use it can select to open the bar when they need to use it.

i think this speed is enough,
Elakiri is not a small site after all, there are lot of online members and ongoing downloads,
So i believe this have a reasonable speed

no machan some of old post are useful + they are the reminder of old times... :) just remove sex posts + not useful threads its better than removing old posts.
still server speed is acceptable...!! :P

Hence the idea to move them to an archive forum. This reduces the database of the live site and that gives a massive performance boost.

What about the useless old threads ? :P
