No wonder half of the students are going abroad in search for higher education. The A'level's here is a joke....most of the people studying for it end up giving up education. And what's up with the long time taken for university grants????


A student who went to a Chinese medical college finished his first year and came here for the holidays, and his friend who got through to a local medical college was still in his first term....

I really don't think our universities can even come close to their standards. This was not meant as an offensive gesture

I did my a/l in 2002,then did 2nd shy in 2003 but got only biology Bsc in Colombo.Instead I wane to bangalore,India and joined medicine in October 2004.
Now i'm in final year & I'l finish the whole MBBS course in December this year while my batch mates who got 3 A's in 2002 & joined Colombo Med faculty will only finish in May,2009

I joined the course 2years later than them,but i'l finish the course 6 months before them.Even after that,there is one more year they'l have to idle around to get their internship appointment because there is a backlog of one batch currently waiting for internship appoinments,while we start our intership 2 weeks after the final year results come.The situation in other universities like J'pura is even worse than this
So those poor souls will only get their degree in October 2011!!!!!!!(9 long years after joining the course)

This itself shows how our university system has gone in a retrograde direction during the past 3-4 decades.Just remember,that University of Colombo & medical school of Colombo was ranked no 1 in whole of asia until the 60's
