Infantrymen of Sri Lanka Army operating under 59 division yesterday (July 7) captured an LTTE strong point located in the Mulaithiuvu jungle.
According to the defence sources, troops advancing towards the area North of Janakapura came across this strong defensive position of the LTTE located about 10 km inside the jungle around 9.30 am.
Troops launched an attack and captured the enemy position after beating off the terrorists. According to the sources, 3 fortified bunkers and 3 trenches were found in the strong point. During the search, troops also found 2 hand grenades.
Later, radio-monitoring units confirmed that a terrorist was killed and 4 others wounded during this incident. Troops suffered no casualties.
