Islam was not founded by Prophet Muhammad. Islam was the first religion of first man on the earth who was Prophet Adam the first Prophet, Muhammad was the last prophet of that Prophet's series. what we and our history says about hinduism. these people were also in begining the muslim but the idolism was start from making the pictures of their elders and religious People (they may be prophets) and after a series of ignorance they start worshiping them, you can found this in hindu scripture that they have the concept of GOd but indirect mean through their idols which were originally the prophets (some of them )etc..etc.what about ups and downs.if you read the history you will come to know islam is the religion which has only the capacity and ability to absorb any other  religion, Give me the example where the winner and ruler  had accepted the religion of captured area general public and followers and losser ...that happen in the world history when the mangool's halaku khan who were the ruler of the world and also when they have capture iraq, The  world history says after only a 6 Decade whole of the  Mangools nation become muslim. May be you have listen the name of the King Taymoor. second if You read the history of sub-continent you will see how islam was accepted fastly by hindu's,the reason was islam has given equal right's to all human being but the hindu's Concept was totally opposite to that.</blockquote>
