tujhse naraz nahin Music has always been an integral part of Devika's life. She started singing in the early years of her life, she performed frequently through high school (Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi), using both popular and classical styles to capture her audience. She is well versed in Hindustani Classical music - having learned under the supervision of several great teachers including Mr. Chandra Rao (student of famous violinist Dr. N. Rajam) and Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan & Ustad Sukhawat Ali Khan (sons of renowned Ustad Salamat Ali Khan). During her undergraduate study at Georgetown University, Washington DC, she experimented with a fusion of indian classical music and electronic music. She also teamed up with Holmes Ives (an electronic music creator and producer) to perform for the album titled 'Satyriasis', whose tracks have been remixed several times. Devika's solo self-titled debut album was a unique collaboration between artists from three countries - India, Pakistan and the US. Music for the album has been composed by Shahi (Shehzad Hasan) - a music director and producer whose work includes songs such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's Mann Ki Lagan & Laal (from the movie Paap). He was also one of the members of Pakistan's first ever pop band - Vital Signs. Additional compositions are by Anshuman Chandra (upcoming composer who composed music for the movie French Fries and Curry), and Noor Lodhi & Manesh Judge (music producers of international award winning music for the movie Maya). The main track of Devika's album titled 'Kehnde Ne Naina' was licensed by Sony BMG India to be included in a compilation of the hottest sufi tracks titled "Teri Deewani". Other artists on this album include Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Rabbi Shergill, A. R. Rehman, Rekha Bhardwaj and others. This album was released in late 2007 and has been the top indi-pop album in India for the last several months. Devika is featured on four tracks on Punjabi Rapper Bohemia's album 'Da Rap Star', released by Universal Music India in April 2009. Devika's second solo album 'Saari Raat', is a contemporary sufi album, produced by Shahi Hasan of Vital Signs and featured the music of Noor Lodhi and Manesh Judge. The album was released by Saregma India Limited on Nov 17, 2009 and was the #2 album in the non-film charts in India for several weeks. Subsequently, Barkha Bahaar, the main track of the album was included in compilations by both Saregama and Sony Music India, featuring artists such as Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Kailash Kher and others.
