The US government is to freeze the assets of a Tamil charity with links to the Tamil Tiger rebels in Sri Lanka.
A statement from the US Treasury said the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) acted as a "front to facilitate fundraising" for the rebels.
The Tamil Tigers are on a list of banned terrorist organisations in the US and a number of other countries.
The rebels are fighting for autonomy for minority Tamils in Sri Lanka's north and east.
There was no immediate response from the TRO or the rebels.
