Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 7755740" data-attributes="member: 92282">The United National Party is holding talks with opposition parties to  seek a consensus to oppose moves by the government to increase taxes and  prices of essential items, UNP Deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya told Daily  mirror online.Jayasuriya said that the UNP has begun discussions with other parties as  a result of the increase in tax on essential goods. He said that while  the common man is suffering, wealthy people are enjoying tax reliefs  which he said was unfair by the poor people. “Taxes have increased and the poor are suffering as a result of this and  the expenditure in certain government organizations have increased but  instead of seeking solutions for these issues, the government is trying  to amend the constitution to facilitate a third presidency term,” he  said.
