Unpleasant Interview at TIMEX garments Ltd.

    Got this from an e-mail.

    Seems to be truth.

    Place : - Timex garments , 455, Baudhaloka mawatha , Colombo 08

    Date : - 20-07-2009

    Scenario : - Interview for the post of system administrator at TIMEX BPO

    Interviewer : - Mr.Esmi ( called himself as a HR Executive )

    Interviewee :- me



    Unprofessional process of interviewing at Timex garment Ltd.



    This is the way a HR guy at TIMEX has spoiled my reputation and put me in a embracing situation despite my experience or knowledge. This is not a general HR Joke story. Even a school leaver or fresher should not be questioned in this manner as per my opinion.


    This is a real incident. These are the questions this HR guy asked from a person come to join the IT department as a system administrator.He has underestimated a world famous IT professions and the precious experience one can earn in his lifetime.
    Do you have a boy friend?. > (I got astonished.).> then HR GAY told > "Why are you laughing?You can have a boy friend.. its gonna be legalized "

    · Do you have a girlfriend ?

    · Are you satisfied with your girlfriend?

    · Will you try to buildup a Love with beautiful girls working at this place?

    · Whts the answer of dividing 1000 by 3.5?.. ( * I got really embraced)

    · Do you need a peace of paper to calculate? You are very poor in mathematics

    · Whats the best Software in Sri Lanka?

    * This question has no answer?... there is nothing called " BEST SOFTWARE" . Its a very generous term


    · Whats the latest software in Sri lanka? ( Who knows ? )

    · Whats the best Anti Virus Software in Sri Lanka? ( Its very subjective and cant compared easily)

    · Tell Us the best Joke you know... make us laugh..

    · Whats the saddest occasion in your life?

    · Whats the most unforgettable incident in your life?

    · meanwhile you are having an urgent work at office you get a call from home saying that your father is passed away. Whats your decision?whether to go home or continue with your office work?

    · Can u join by tomorrow ? ( Then I requested 1 week ) "U must tell that u can join tomorro .. U cant drag it to another week.. U dont know about my senior management . they are very strict"

    · If you say them that U need 1 week, definitely you are out

    ( So this employer needs interviewee to join the same day or next day if he/she gets the job. This guy doesn't know that an individual has other commitments and responsibilities as well as engaged with other duties also. Usually interviewee will request 1 month time to leave the current employer and join the new place.Its very genuine and fair to request at least a week time to join. But this guy didn't care about that genuine s)

    · Do you know that there are 7 days per week?.. Monday Tuesday Wednesday............Sunday? ( he considered me as a kid)

    · Assume you are the only employee at IT Department.U are getting urgent jobs from 2 managers.How are you going to handle this situation?

    *My answer was, There can be so many solutions and thoughts on this.even though both tasks having the same priority, someone definitely has to wait because only 1 person in the IT Department and he/she cant carry out 2 works simultaneously

    But then the HR person's response was ...

    · If you do so you are definitely kicked out of this company.You cant let a one manager to wait.You are wrong. You have to tell both parties to wait another 5 minutes and then prioritize your work as your wish

    This bugger cant understand that still one party is waiting and other party is getting the priority.So he thinks that his answer is the one and only perfect answer.But he doesn't know that his knowledge is like fool`s Gold.


    Then he asked a question regarding What would be the response of me as an employee in a case of delay in salary. Then he asked some analytical sub question from that particular question.Unfortunately I didn't understand the second question. I told him that i didn't get it and asked him to repeat and explain



    · I cant repeat questions.If you tell my senior management to explain something or repeat a question, you are definitely kicked out of the company.you cant ask for explanations.

    As a IT person I have attended for many interviews at many places. specially as a IT person I expect the interview to be more specific in technical competencies and other terms and conditions regarding the employment.I don't know what kind of personality problem or mental disease this HR guy is suffering. These are only some of unpleasant dialogs he had with me

    I had to face this unpleasant interview for about 30 Minutes. He didn't speak with me in friendly manner. Its absolutely in harassing way



    I'm really disappointed about TIMEX garments Limited and their HR Policies.I thought of share my dissapointment with you all friends and I think anyone should not face this kind of a situation hereafter at this place.

    Note: - For all IT Professionals.....

    Most of the IT Company's HR IDIOTS are thinking they can interview IT Professionals, without having a single idea of IT or Technical knowledge.... As I think they are duty should be (after the technical interview) discuss HR related agreements with the employee and take him/her in.The reason for this because of they have poor mind set aim to think they have power of controlling employees and anytime they can kicked out them from the company. And most of the IT company's HR doesn't have visibility of among IT professionals and this create poor mind among HR peoples.(Then they try to be bigshots when the interviews conducting)

    The good example I can tell about one of my friend, He had a interview for the Senior Software Engineer in one of IT company in Colombo.Same time HR member and Technical person interviewed him then Technical person asked "Are you familiar working with LINUX environments? " then my friend answer it "Yes I familiar working with several LINUX/UNIX environments like ....." the same time HR IDIOT has asked " Are you familiar working with Windows XP ?"

    So my friend is a more than 3 years experience person in IT then what the shame of facing this kind of interviews with HR baby s.

    As you all know other Professionals are having self proud about their Profession, as IT Professionals if you get this kind of poor interview please reject it in-transit and look for another opportunity.It makes proud in IT and D Don't let HR IDIOTS to kick and play with your personality.

    මේක ඇත්ත වෙන්න ඇති... මගෙනුත් සමහර interview වලදි මෙච්චරම නැති උනත් ටිකක් ගොං ප්‍රශ්න අහලා තියෙනවා IT ගැන.

    ඕවගේ උත්තර වලින් මිනිස්සු මනින්න පුළුවන් ඇති. හැබැයි ඉතින් උත්තර දෙන කෙනා අවංකව උත්තර දුන්නොත් විතරයි. HR වලත් ලොකු වෙනසක් වෙලා ඇති. අලුත් විදියට grade කරනවා ඇත්තේ. අනික Paper qualification , working skills තියෙන candidate ලා ගොඩක් ඉන්නකොට එතනින් කෙනෙක් තෝරා ගන්න soft skills බලනවා ඇති.
