UPFA candidate for Puttalam district Sanath Nishantha has been remanded until next Monday for an allegation of using a weapon and assaulting another UPFA candidate's son.

He was remanded over an incident which took place on Wednesday night where Minister Neomal Perera's son was attacked.

Mr Perera, a former UNP member is contesting under the UPFA ticket, from the same district.

Mr. Nishantha had earlier warned Mr. Perera's supporters to refrain from campaigning in his strongholds.
