The vote for the budget was held at the Municipal Council Office today under the chairmanship of Maharagama Mayoress Kanthi Kodikara. 6 Members of the UNP, 5 Members of the JVP and 2 Members of the UPFA voted against the budget proposals. The budget proposed by the UPFA received only 7 votes. As such budget for Maharagama Municipal Council was defeated by 6 votes.JVP Member for Maharagama Municpal Council Devananda Suraweera said the defeat of the budget proposal of Maharagama MC was the beginning of the defeat of Mahinda Rajapakse and his government.</blockquote>
