The government party was defeated at the vote for budget proposals of Maharagama Municipal Council for the year 2010 held today. The vote for the budget was held at the Municipal Council Office today under the chairmanship of Maharagama Mayoress Kanthi Kodikara. 6 Members of the UNP, 5 Members of the JVP and 2 Members of the UPFA voted against the budget proposals. The budget proposed by the UPFA received only 7 votes. As such budget for Maharagama Municipal Council was defeated by 6 votes.
