The Chief news editor of the Jaffna-based Uthayan news paper who was assaulted by an unidentified group on Friday evening and was admitted to the Jaffna hospital is out of danger, Dr. Sribavanatharaja the acting Director of the Jaffna Hospital said

Gnanasundaram Kuganathan the chief news editor of Uthayan was attacked while he was traveling along the Navalar Road in Jaffna on Friday (29) evening.


President Mahinda Rajapaksa today instructed the Police Chief to immediately launch an investigation and submit a report into the assault on the News Editor of the Jaffna based Uthayan newspaper, President’s Media Director General Bandula Jayasekera said.


Gnanasundaram Kuganathan was attacked while he was travelling along the Navalar Road in Jaffna. Kuganathan, who is in a critical condition, is now receiving treatment at the ICU of the Jaffna Hospital.
