Maduluwawe Sobhitha thera, Chief Incumbent of Kotte Sri Nagaviharaya, stated that he suspected foul play. The Chief Incumbent explained that a small white van had been parked outside the temple from 11 this morning and the incident was intended to delay him attending the Adhishtana Pooja at Sri Dalada Maligawa this afternoon in support of the release of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka. “This was most clearly an attempt to delay this afternoons proceedings. Although we saw the van parked outside the Temple, we were unsuspicious of it. But now in hindsight it is clear that the vehicle was there to cause some harm,” he said. Ven.
