Booting is faster than a machine which having xp. you guy's have told a security problem, why don't you try to disable defender and UAC (user Account control). I use like that no problems at all. if you are worring about viruses try a virus guard like Nod32, (No slowdowns when using it). I don't think that we must install a virus guard to vista cause most of viruses dosen't work in vista. but in futer it might change.
