Did anyone try this? I still haven't, that's why. I'm not so keen to try it out all by myself. ;)

Damn! I still haven't installed it, because
1. the setup needs me to uninstall VMWare Player (but it will install its own version of VMWare Player) and I'm not feeling like doing that
2. Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Beta is working great.

I have a friend who has tested it. I should ask about it from him.

Hehe. Forgot all about this thread.

Yes, I've tested it, and this is what I'm using at the moment. I gave up VirtualPC, because I didn't want two virtualization softwares running at the same time. Besides, I have to have VMWare in the system to get Vista running smoothly ;)

Which freeware version? Are you talking about the VMWare Server?

yup. vmware server freeware version.
Never used it. Can you do the same thing you do with the workstation? I thought it was used to manage Workstations.

with the server, you dont need the specially made player files to create the guest OS. you can simply create as many guest OS's as you want (theorotically) and install the guest OS using the standard setup CDs of that OS.
It also offers the remote management of other vmware servers as well.

You don't need special VMWare Guest OS files to run in Workstation either. This is not the player remember. You can install any number guest OSes as you like, beginning from the scratch.

But I think I should look into Server too. :)

so back to the original question : what's new in this beta ?
Among the new features coming in version 6 are support for running Windows Vista either as a host or guest operating system, support for USB 2.0 devices, and multiple monitor display.

Dunno what all the new features are. :sorry:

You need VMWare to activate Windows Vista pirated copy. An emulated hacked activation server image (VMWare image format) is available from torrent sites. when you mount that in VMware, you can pseudo activate your copy of Vista from emulated server.
