They told us to stop calling them by their names and instead to call them by the names of the celebrities or, else, they would run away from their homes,” the mother of one child told the Police.“Even the walls of their rooms are covered with posters of these Bollywood stars,” the mother said.The children, who did not get a positive answer from their parents regarding travel to India, finally decided to go on their own. After stealing their passports from their homes, the children spent a night at a friend’s house but were caught the next day when they were about to board a bus to Colombo. They only had Rs.5000 in their possession, along with a few clothes and their passports.The children who were handed back to their families have now begun to live a ‘normal’ life and returned to school. “Bollywood movies can have a severely negative impact on children.
