The Most Important Buddhist Festival of Vesak is nearing. Vesak brings peace, happiness and all the good for every living being. People are very happy, mind is filled with peace and harmony. Unlike other religion festivals (e.g. Ramazan or Christmas), Vesak brings peace and happiness not only to human but also to animals and the entire nature. No slaughtering of animals, No alcohol, No any kind of bad or harmful thing. People are very generous, “Danselas” are given everywhere. Houses and Roads are beautifully decorated and illuminated. The nature is overjoyed, trees are full of flowers and fruits, animals are very very happy and confident of not being killed. All the good things are happening. .

    So everyone wants Vesak everyday.

Some non-Buddhists are trying to distort the true and innocent happiness of people on Vesak days. They are jealous of this greatest festival of the world. They want to destroy the peaceful joy of people. One such bad attempt is selling and wearing of Vampire Masks on the Vesak Days. Some idiots or cunning people wear these masks and try to do mischievous or malicious acts (e.g. pick-pockets, harassing girls/ladies, frightening small children etc.) while covering their faces with these masks. This is not at all suitable during Vesak Days. We should not allow these idiots to distort or destroy the calmness and happiness of our Vesak. Playing “Olu Bakko” and Skeleton Dancing have already been banned. Let’s get together and take all necessary actions to stop wearing Masks (especially Vampire Masks) during the Vesak Festival.
