My Dear Friends I decided to write a poem on wesak of a different nature, please let me know how you all feel about it. A Thought for Wesak One Morning on the day of Vesak I went into a temple and to my luck I met a young monk mooching along Where I payed homage as he smiled and said "Carry On" Venerable Sir, Please Explain me For I am confused, please be my saviour thee There are many Vesak attractions in the streets to see Tell me why is this temple so calm, as it seems to be "My Dear" he said in a soothing voice All you see from front appears to be nice But what is inside, to me is full of lust Which is definitely a hindrance, that will vanish like dust But Venerable Sir, I did protest Please see for yourself, I thought to conquest Every individual coming all the way from cities and Villages Feel Happy and contended, irrespective of diverse ages "I will explain" he made me clear All this glamour is for one day, for your eyes to see and ears to hear But the person who conquors his senses and mind Will be the highest contended, which is rare to find Further more he did explain "The Glamour on this day I will never Complain" But for those who prefer everlasting Happiness Will find it only within himself, to find it elsewhere is complete foolishness The Beauty of the full moon is seen only in the temple The sound of the "Gantara" to the ear is so soothing and simple Please don't forget on this wesak day To come to the temple, for a change diverting from the usual way
