Since the point of passing exams was brought forward, I though of commenting this. Sri lanka "said" to be having so-called "free" education. Its true that we have free primary and secondary education. However, tertiary education is "free" for a very very small fraction. Some countries without "free" education, have a portion of graduates, greater than Sri Lanka. Therefore, I guess there is an issues in the "free" education of Sri Lanka. Its may be true that the government cannot afford providing free tertiary education for many. However, I guess, right to education is a human right. Therefore, opportunities should be made available to people who wish to get tertiary and postgraduate education. Providing educational loans is a good initiative. Government facilitation to make the loans with minimal interest is good. People struggle hard at Advanced level, because of the very limited oppotunity for tertiary education. People try hard to get into "better" schools, in view of getting better results at advanced level. Therefore, the stress kids having at scholarship is an indirect effect of not having adequate opportunities for teretiary education. Open for discussion
