Recently I heard that 8 Sri Lankans are dying by Road Traffic Accidents PER DAY. That is, one person is dying by road traffic accidents every three hours. Therefore, I guess, this might be the most significant problem the country is having. Maybe, statistically, it is more significant than the civil war experienced in past.

Quality of Public Transport needs improvement even though all parts of the country are very accessible.

Many employees spend about 4 hours per day for travelling to work. As per our observations, although they come to work by 8.30am, just after reporting their arrival for work, they go for breakfast. (it's not unreasonable, as they leave home around 5.30am. ;-). Therefore, proper office work starts only around 9.30am. Furthermore, travelling exhaustion reduces their productivity. This is another significant problem.

People having mental issues or lack of focus to mental illnesses is the main problem I think.
Most of the guys don’t know that they are crazy.

    Sir,
What do you mean by "every part of the country is very accessible". Recently, I had to spend around 10 hours to travel from Colombo to Mathale. (You know the traffic jam in Kandy ;-) )

    Very good point.
    I appreciate this comment.

This brings forward the issue related to "health seeking behavior".
Due to social stigma, many health issues are under diagnosed and not managed. I hope the list includes
    1. Psychiatric diseases
    2. Sexually Transmitted Diseases
    3. Diseases like TB
    and many more

    Thanks

Another issue as I perceive is lack of optimum control over importation standards on agro chemicals and food products.
I would like to quote the recent issues related to Glophosate and Milk Products

High road density and availability of transport to every corner of the island!
The traffic jam in Kandy is not related to accessibility. :P

A significant proportion of the society are either diabetic or prone to diabetes. Introducing a color coding to soda beverages has been effective in providing an insight to consumers. However, it is said that many milk products and biscuits in the market are having very high sugar content. How about extending the color coding to Milk products and biscuits. !!!

True. But I’d like to highlight much common issues like lack of self esteem, selfishness or high esteem or being egotistic. This often leads to create wreck havoc in the society as many educated (I mean the people who think as educated because they’ve passed exams) people in higher positions often suppress people of lower positions. This is evident in all categories in the social hierarchy.

I have another opinion. Materialism also could be another pivotal issue which is detrimental.
