They could acquire a gate from Pegasus galaxy (third generation gate) which are technologically advance than gates in Milkyway galaxy(second generation gate). When such gate is present all incoming connection would go to it rather than going to the old gen one. But then again Russians too can get one (using their deaddalus class ship). So its better to keep Russians in the loop and have them working with US rather than against.</blockquote>
