If you run your vehicle on low-octane fuel than recommended then there can be a "knock". The fuel ignites on it's own , before the spark ignites it. This is a waste of energy and also can be bad for the engine.Engines have knock sensors. They protect your engine from knock by retarding timing. When an engine knocks the engine temperature can rise which is bad. So use the correct fuel that's recommended. You can go higher.... but not lower.</blockquote>
