Its because of Buddhists have given a special value to a full moon day according the lunar calender(may be its the gravity of moon or something) anyway its special to them its more of culture and a date specially set for religious activities and this doesnt mean that Buddhists dont do any religious observances on other days tho2. We do not actually worship lord Buddha its just showing our respect and "shraddhawa" in his Dhamma we dont worship him as a god but as a teacher 3.
