man!! you can't name one O/S as the best one i mean each and every O/S has its pros and cons, security wise Solaris is said to be the best ,Interface wise Vista goes with me,
guys have you seen Compiz fusion(successor to well known Beryl window manager and Compiz)
its astonishing.

In case of Linux I'll take Debian as a mainstream release. (the one I use) It has many advantages over other linuxes due to having a very large repository of programs. If you have a good internet connection (ADSL and over) Debian/Ubuntu is the best go :)
If you are concerned about preformance and a less cluttered interface i'll vote for Zenwalk Linux.

Now to Windows, I'll vote for Windows XP thousand times ahead of Vista. I've had some bad experiences in the past months configuring Vista PCs for friends(mostly girls :P)

The upcomming release of KDE (version 4) has some smash effects. You can try the RC2 in Kubuntu I think :)

Didn't you for a second think that it could be a problem with girls? :P

i'm really pissed with Kubuntu, its stability sucks :dull:
however i guess it's a common case with KDE,
anyway ubuntu rox! when compared :)

I agree on that count. KDE was slow and cluttered compared to the elegance of gnome and clean preformance of xfce. But KDE 4 is a major overhaul of the system. It's now said to be faster and much more stable.
Kubuntu next release will include KDE4 but is not going to get the LTS tag coz of it's cutting edge nature.
