The Rhodesian Ridgeback originated in South Africa, it was in what is now known as Zimbabwe that these dogs became prized for their ability to hunt lion and other large game.
These strong, active dogs make good family pets and they are a great watchdog. They are intelligent and good-natured, they are easy to train, but should be treated gently so not to break their spirit or make them aggressive.

Grooming- their short coat only requires a brush now and then. Bath when needed.

Exercise- they have a great stamina and needed plenty of exercise.

Health- a good diet is important. This breed can be susceptible to Hip Dysplasia and Dermoid Sinus. Weight can also be a problem.
