Ok I have tested these 4 download managers.

I tested two files. Here are they.

2. ATI Catalyst 7.1 driver only. 12,522kB (12.22MB)
https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/7-1_xp_dd_40211.exe

If you have anything else for me to test, I'll be happy to do that. But please give me the links to download them. Trial versions are fine, as long as they don' limit the download speed.

Don't be fooled by the value it shows you. The best way to test it by the time it takes to finish downloading the files.

I've been using Flashget since 2002, and it's perfecting itself with each release.s

100kbps? Oh man! If the servers support making multiple connections, then I get 400kbps almost always with Flashget. But I hardly download big files from http/ftp urls.

I'm a Flashget user.

That is not accurate. Flashget can accelerate to max my bandwidth, when the browser can't, with the same file ==> this is called accelerating

50kBps almost always (but not always - depending on how fast the servers are)

I try to use free software without loosing functionality. For example, I use Alcoho 52% which is free instead of 120% which is not free, because I don't miss anything in 120% in 52%. You know, software piracy is a sin (), and I try to minimize my sins.

Flashget 1.73 over here.

It can download some files faster than Firefox. The need for a download accelerator is MORE when using a broadband connection, not the other way round.

In the dial up days, the only reason why I used it was because I needed to pause downloads and resume the next day. These days I hardly download any big files (200MB+) in http or ftp. The only reason why I use it now, is to speed up downloads which a single thread (connection) to the server doesn't make it utilize the full bandwidth of my connection. With several connections, it can speed up a lot.

I cant think how this man changed....
