Carla Gugino isnt as good an actor as Gal Gaddot. I doubt Carla can headline a standalone movie and make box office gold. Gal Gaddot, despite her thinness, can do that. Which is probably why they went with her. Watch it in the Halls for the 3D, unless you got a 3D player at home. There are some great uses of 3D in this movie. As for the sources, spotting them is something for the fans of the comics. As for movie fans, there is a decent plot to follow. However, it is linked with The Man of Steel so having some idea of what happened in that movie helps, even though the key plot points of that movie are covered in this one as well. For the non comic reader, there's an alien with super human powers whom many have begun to liken to god, due to his abilities. At the same, his powers frightens others and question what his intentions are. Luthor, using the government follows one route. Batman, experiencing first hand, the kind of damage superman can do, follows another route. The whole Wonder Woman angle is unfortunately, to shoe horn in the upcoming Justice League movie and has no other real use in the first part of this movie. This is also why I hope that there's an uncut version of this movie so that all these elements can tie in together much better than the way it happens on screen. The movie allows for a lot of tie in movies, which I believe was another goal from the film companies pushed on to the director so that he had to find ways to allow for those as there's a lot of things left to be explained, such as why Batman kills or allow bad guys to die with such reckless abandon. Why the heck Luthor collects info on Meta Humans and work with the govt on that (IE: the Cadmus project). Why Luthor has a problem with Superman, etc. Dont expect Chris Nolan level of story telling from this one. Nolan expects the viewers to have some level of intelligence to put one and one together. Zack Snyder, either by choice or cause he was forced, expects the viewers to be 10 - 12 year olds. most likely, its forced on him to dumb things down, but thats where it is. Its clear that the studios wants to sell a shit ton of toys and other merchandise from this so this is probably one major reason to actually include Wonder Woman in this movie as well.
