    Hell
The opposite happened to me.:no:
It's possible, I had really low expectations for it, just because the lame trailer I guess.

    Guru

    A masterpiece
    My Ratings 8.5

One of the very few film that Indians cinema ever produced.
And Abishek just rocked the show !!!

Sorry I disagree. This movie can be so many things but being a 'Masterpiece' isn't on of them, best thing about this movie is Rahman's music.

Which one? Guru not being a masterpiece?
Well simply I would say because to me, approach to the theme (theme is 'dream high then follow, you can do anything' right?) is unrealistic that makes me snort. I always got it as a just decent movie, not bad not that good either.

that was hardly the theme. It was more on having the determination to get where one wants to go by any means necessary. Even when knowing that the means necessary are hardly legal or moral.

Yeah maybe that too, however as I said before the way the theme flows is what throws me away. "Wake-up Sid" which had a some kind of parallel theme is better to me. :)

System is rotting inside out. Those who willing to pursue their dream have no other choice but to get their hands dirty. I always like to see characters having complex mixed relations.
That press owner is like a father to Guru and destiny made them fight each other. Yet in the event of disaster they find them self running to each other.
Another good example is Mahendra perera in Babara walalla

I dont know how people not fall in love with such films. What more do you need ?

Guru is a sensible,hard-hitting movie for the mature audience. It's better than Wake Up Sid (my opinion :) )

And mani rathnam handled the cast superbly. Abishek Aishwarya that press owner
Vindya Balan is good as ever.

there's a secondary reason as well. This movie get extreme close to home to us as our own business-political scene is still very much like the one shown in the movie. That sub plot on getting orders by falsifying the factory capacity and then hastily fixing the factory when there's an inspection is something that is still done here.

He just did whatever he had to
There door made by legal system that are wide shut for poor villagers like him. Some open when you bribe some does require a kick. He had to do both

However I liked the Asian touch and flavor of that film too. You know that song Tere Bina is one of my most fav

Specially that music part starts on 2.52 gave me almost goosbumps at the time I watched the film

And I know you are not much of a hindi music fan

If you are looking from that dimension, I think Dabangg and Aakrosh are good.

havent seen those and dont think I will either.. just not interested in hindi movies anymore.
Last good Indian movie I watched was The Last Lear. Give that watch. Best acting from the Senior Bachchan I've ever seen.
