While masses endure hardships to eradicate terrorism ministers pilfer public money! Wimal Weerawansa While masses bear untold hardships and make sacrifices in order to eradicate terrorism from the country the government has installed hundreds of ministerial portfolios to pilfer public money says JVP Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa. He said this at a special media meeting hold in Colombo yesterday. The meeting was held to apprise the media regarding the opposition of the JVP to the supplementary estimate the government has presented to allocate Rs.65, 75, 61,000 for seven ministries. Mr. Weerawansa said at a time when the prices of essential goods and services have increased at an unbearable rate what the governmnted should do not to allocate billion of rupees to gratify ministers but to withdraw the unnecessary rntrristries that are burden to the economy of the country and use the money to give relief to the masses. Mr. Weerawansa said the JVP has decided to vote against the supplementary estimate of the government According to political sources the UNP too would vote against it. The supplementary estimate is to be presented to the Parliament on the 19th by the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Leader of the House, has informed all Parliamentarians of the government that their presence in the Parliament on the 19th is compulsory.
