Who should be SL team's Vice Captain?

With all the buzz going on with Mahela's retirement as the captain, I think most of us would agree the obvious choice would be Sangakkara!

But what about the Vice Captain? that's quite hard to choose I'd say!

Personally I think of 2 players..

1. Maharoof
2. Dilshan

I know that Dilshan's attitude wasn't really good the other day but working under Sanga he might learn what it takes to be a leader eventually.. Maharoof suits the position than Dilshan mainly because of his attitude, but the issue is he is neither a specialist batman nor a bowler, he did a great job in the past series though we lost to India but being that kind of player will vice captaincy add extra pressure on him?

Or should we forget about both of them give it a youngster like Kapugedara hoping he will come good and be a good leader under Sanga's shadow? What do ya'll think?

I dnt knw pretty much about Cricket but
I gus s iT should be Dilshan
He can adopth with many situations like pressure and new
(U can get the idea by observing his marrage life also )

Exactly! Sri Lanka generally had very calm captains, most countries does for that matter... Even Mahela isn't 100% perfect in handling pressure situations but his strategy was good.. I'd say upto date the best captain who could remain totally calm under pressure was Arjuna.. but Sanga might change that, he too got a thick face when he goes in to the middle!

Lets say that Dilshan is to be selected as the V.Captain of our team. Now he is 30+ years old. Lets assume that Sanga does the job for 5 years and quite as the captain. At that time Dilshan would be thinking of retiring from cricket. What happens then

Who would we appoint as the next captain? Who ever it is - - He wouldn't have any experience leading the team.

But if we select Kapugedara as our next V.Captain, he would be ready to lead our team in 5 years time.

Well Dilshan's captaincy @ the T20 match is not that gr8 imo...shouting to all the players and no Patience @ all....so after thinking as a good vice captain i think Kapu is the man....not to mention he was a brilliant captain to our school team

i dont think u can compare kapugedarta with smith. smith was playing superbly even before he was awarded the captaincy he was averaging 40 out of 25 matches or something .but kapugedara after playing about 60 games only averages 21.that is not accptable by any means .u cant say he is too young .then take plaers like raina, rohit sharma,shakib al hasan etc... no doubt he's talented but he is so inconsistent ..i think its wise to go with maharoof coz he's a thinking cricketer.but most probably selectors will go with dilshan.

HE WAS A LITTLE ANGRY AT T20,BUT HE GOT REASONS.IF BOWLERS BALL LIKE THAT NO CAPTAIN WOULD BE HAPPY.COMENTATORS DESCRIBDED HIM AS "THROWING ARMS".AND DHONI AS "CAPTAIN COOL"THIS IS ONLY ACCORDING TO THE TEAM CONFIDENT.DILSHAN WILL BE A BETTER V.CAPT UNDER SANGA.
