Technical colleges get 3 years to complete their syllabus in the certificate level when city & guilds takes only 1 year .And Technical colleges take another 1 year to complete the diploma  level and If you want to do the DIPLOMA directly without doing the certificate , it's imposible  with the Technical colleges . But City & Guilds will discuss with you and if you confidant with  doing the diploma they will allow you to move your first step with the diploma and it's  duration is 1 year while Technical colleges takes up to 4+ years to complete the diploma . And  After you completed your Diploma with CITY & GUILDS , you can move to your next step with "  Advanced diploma " It takes 10 months to complete the course . AND after you completed your "  Advanced diploma " , you can proceed with Chartered Engineering Status ( Engineering Council  UNITED KINGDOM - PART 2 ). You don't need to go abroad You can do it in srilanka. CITY AND GUILDS TEACHING VERY IMPORTANT THINGS THAT YOU CAN BE GENIUS IN YOUR INDUSTRY / FIELD WHILE TECHNICAL COLLEGES TEACHING VERY IMPORTANT THINGS + LOT OF USELESS THINGS + IRRELEVANT STUFF , WHICH TAKES LOT OF TIME TO COMPLETE IN THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE COURSES .REGARDS !!.</blockquote>
