For one thing I know we have a lot experience here from people pretend to be friendly.. we had all sorts of Terrorist Sympathizers, whom were so friendly until we started to discuss the truth... especially few of them went "Barking MAD" after SLAF killed Tamilselvan.. started to bombard the forum.. then we knew their true colors!!

I hope you are not one of them..

Getting back to your story.... Although I'm not so sure what is the intention of you posting a thread of a white man!! All I know is this particular "White man" has given his personal views around 1950's.. well that was just about all drama was finished!!

Now why did actually Sinhalese did not trust Tamils? why did they asked to leave SL? where did it all started? Not in 1950's my friend.. it all started in 1880's although I do not like to fully reiterate past because that would offend the other races here... I would like to reiterate things that are actually answer what you are looking for....

I may have mentioned this in eralier threads but I dont care how many times I'd have to mention it as long as it serves the purpose... I'd like to know what are your thoughts on English shipping tamils here for estate work and they take advantage and spying on Sinhalese for English many brave Sinhalese leaders were killed because of their treachery!!

Tamils were the majority who did admin work for English that time, this was about to change when Sinhalese asked for fair representations in the council for majority Sinhalese.. mind you there were no counsil men for Sinhalese at that time but there were for minority tamil... Tamils enjoyed English previlages education for children, health facilities....etc..etc.. when Sinhalese asked for the same English just lied saying Indian goverment asked them to do so!!

Tamils were trying to push for 50/50 representation in the council where at that time more than 80% was Sinhalese land... Do you think that this was fair? They even tried this in India until they were demolished by Nehru's 16th amendment!! Shame on them.. so desperate to loot other's land!!

And in Banda-Chelva pact they proved who they really are the demands were..

1. Tamil to be official language for administration purposes in north and east (Which will force the other communities to work in Tamil)

2. Immigration to North and East to be restricted (this was clearly done to restrict Sinhalese and other Minorities to be settled in the areas, which will further nourish their separate motherland claim in future)

3. More powers to be given away to regional councils (Tamil politicians were not at all interested of a Federal concept as it would be governed by Sinhalese)

You think there were fair?

So finally how does in 1950's when Sri Lanka finally gain independence can Sri Lankan leaders and Sinhalese people fully trust Tamils?

If you are a tamil... and if you are the majority of this country that were bully'd by English and were subject to Sinhalese treason.. would you believe Sinhalese so easily??
