    Why You Shouldn’t Cheat AdSense

Published by iGraphiX on Sep 13, 2008

If you applied for AdSense account with intention to cheat and earn fast bucks, I hope by now you have understood that you shouldn’t.
Why? You say. Google is so rich, losing some pennies won’t hurt.
Well. Probably. But when I say you shouldn’t, trust me. You really shouldn’t. These are just some reasons:

    1. You can’t cheat Google

Every once in while, someone will comes out with ingenious idea of how to get more money from AdSense in less than honorable ways. He will announce to the whole world, posting in every forum and tell people how smart he is. His idea is always untraceable by Google, it is always original, and it always gives easy money.
What he doesn’t know is, few months after that, he will get caught by Google, always. And his AdSense account will be disabled. Always. And he is banned from ever applying for AdSense account again. Always.
Google is a giant, with 2005 revenue of almost US$ 10 billions, and profits of more than US$ 1 billion. A large chunk of this comes from Adwords / AdSense advertisements.
More click fraud means less trust, less advertisers and less money, to the extent that if unsolved it will bring collapse to pay-per-click advertisement business. Now. Do you think Google will let you jeopardize their billion dollar business model?
They have money and ability to bring together many of the the smartest and brightest engineers and scientists on earth, has been doing that and will continue to do so. How smart do you think you are that you can outsmart collaborative effort of the brightest brains?
You might be able to pull through for two or three months, but eventually the fraud detection algorithm will catch up and you are caught. And you get banned from Google AdSense, among other things.

    2. Cheating = stealing
No matter how you want to justify, face it, cheating is stealing. You are not only stealing from Google, but also from Adwords publishers. Majority of these are are not big companies, but small webmasters depending on Internet to make a living.
Moreover, even if your morality (or lack thereof) permits stealing from your own fellow, bear in mind that stealing is illegal. Regardless of whether it is done offline or online, a crime is a crime. You might get jailed for that.
In fact, Google has started to bring AdSense fraudsters to court a few months ago. Some were jailed, and some others were fined heavily.

    3. It is just too easy to earn more, legally
Let’s say you managed to cheat AdSense undetected. You don’t use clickbot or proxy or click-ring or paid clickers. You managed to somehow get the clicks from distributed IP. You don’t use pop-ups, spyware, adware. You are careful that your CTR does not exceed 10%. Still, your earning is limited. There is a cap you can’t cross, else you will invite unwanted attention to your account.
With so much effort to cover your traces, actually you will get better result if you concentrate your effort to improve the website.
Write more contents, submit articles, improve on your search engine optimisation, improve adsense placement, and you can get the same earning or even more. Sure it will take some time, but this is legitimate.

Five Reasons Why Newbie Shouldn’t Cheat with Adsense

Recently in many forums, I had seen many newbie has made their step into the famous Google’s Website Monetizing Program, Google Adsense. It’s a good news since more people is going to get extra money online :). However, sadly a few of them decided to play cheat (or do fraud click) as a way to gain more money faster which is clearly stated in Google Terms of Service here as an illegal thing to do. This article consists five top reasons why newbie should not cheat with Adsense, specially written to motivate them to the path of success.

    1. Google can detect click fraud easily.

Although my account has never got banned before, I have many friends who got their account busted from the program, just because of one reason which is click fraud. Accroding to the statement that most people agreed, Google does their tracking by collecting the IP address and cookie of the publisher. Others said that Google detects publisher’s MAC address to which I think is hard to cover the trace unless we are willing to reinstall our computer each time we want to do the click fraud.

    2. It’s a bad karma (or sin)

Many relegion in the world guided that cheating to get money is a wrong thing to do. If you have the faith, why would you keep doing the wrong thing? In Islam as example, it can be considered haraam as its againts the advertiser’s agreement with the publisher. Feeding our cells with haraam earning is a worser than living in poverty and may get us thrown to the hell.

    3. Your country might get banned by online money making program.

Google Adsense is one of the major online money making program. Such that if a company banned a country for fraud click cases, then the process of signing up with the program later will be hard for the citizens. The country’s website publishers will get negative perception from other company as well (mutualism or parasitism?). That would mean less income for us.

    4. It won’t last long

If you think that Google Adsense is a fast way to get money, then this program is not for you. Many publishers before did research for more than one year to reach the success, unless you are very lucky or have the X-factor to attract visitors to your website. When you do fraud click for a long time, Google will realize it sooner or later.

    5. Adsense needs us to be skillful

To get money from Adsense you need a lot of skill such as optimizing website’s layout for SEO, Adsense placement, website’s tracking, linking strategy and lots more. The knowledge or skill will not be achieved in a single night, but with a lot of experiment a.k.a trial and error.

I would like to end this article by giving a suggestion that what Adsense newbie have to do now is plan their work, work their plans. Just like in real life, we have to work damn hard to get something that we like. Should we consider money generated from fraud click as a “success”? I’m sure no one does.

11 Reasons Google Adsense Can Ban Your Account

    1. The clicker’s IP address matches the one on your adsense account.
    It’s a no-brainer. Don’t click on your own ads.
    2. Suspiciously high CTR
According to a report I read, anything above 10% will be flagged, but 6% or 7% would probably be a safer limit.
    3. Clickers’ IP addresses come from the same geographical area
This is for those who think they can get away with clicking on their ads from their friends’ computer, their grandma’s computer, and their neighbor’s computer. This will raise the red flag on your account, however if the site specific to a region, say a current events website - almost all clicks would be coming from the same region.
    4. Cookies
Most users don’t use the same IP address everytime they login. That’s why google stores the IP addresses related to a particular user in a cookie. If you thought using a proxy clicker bot was gonna make you an adsense millionnaire, don’t quit your day job.
    5. Short-stay pattern
Usually, visitors on your site take a few seconds to check out your content, and then maybe they’ll click on your links. Google doesn’t like it the other way around, i.e. if they only stay a few seconds just to click on links.
    6. One-site pattern
Google compares different users’ activities on different sites. It will ask: why is this user clicking on ads on site X and not on any other site?
    7. Direct-access pattern
Google doesn’t like it when one category of users clicks on your ads more than another. In particular, they don’t like it when users who access your site directly (i.e. no referrer) click on your ads but no one else does. So much for click exchange forums.
    8. Big Brother
Google doesn’t just own adsense. They also own gmail, google earth, and a host of other applications. They WILL track your IP accross these applications so don’t think that just because you don’t use an IP to login to adsense you can use it to click on your ads.
    9. The invisible website
If your website doesn’t rank highly on google’s search engine, they may get suspicious if you get an insane amount of traffic and clicks. The traffic won’t get you banned, but all those clicks better be legit.
    10. Begging the click
Don’t write stuff like “please visit our sponsors” on your webpage. You have to be a moron to think that Google can own a search engine and not find out about this sort of thing.
    11. Conversions
Conversions are tracked by the adwords owner placing a code on whatever page they consider to be a conversion. Most often its a thank you page for the completion of an order or sale, leads, or view of a key page.Google has some strong detection methods but they don’t have magic powers. The reps at Google are less than forthcoming but the last three I have spoken too have all pretty much said that the majority of people they cancel are being just stupid, clicking their own ads and trying to disguise them as being part of the site.
