Repeaters are inefficient, avoid at all costs.
Why don’t you connect an AP with a higher range to your main router via RJ45? Then connect the DVR wirelessly

Well I assumed that your DVR supports wireless AC standard and that your main SLT router’s wifi strength is weak near your DVR.

If you DVR only supports RJ45, then replace the repeater in your original diagram with a AP that supports DDWRT, OpenWRT, Gargoyle etc; and use the repeater/bridge mode :)

TL;DR? Use a new router (access point) as a repeater :D

Machan I am not a technical expert. So can I ask you something more pls. If I purchase an AP that supports those platforms, the AP will be connected to the DVR. And there will be a wireless connection between the AP and the original router. Is this how it works?

Next question, are these APs available in Sri lanka? Cost?

    Exactly

Try TP-Link routers which supports Wireless AC standard. This is the best cost-effective solution.

A problem arises if your SLT router doesn’t support AC standard though. :dull: As in my personal setup, I use a dedicated AP just to distribute my main internet connection wirelessly. As per my experience, default main routers doesn’t do a good job sharing the internet. If you’ve got the money, use two new APs at both ends :D otherwise, just use one

Edit: I’m not sure about costs, I’ve bought mine online. TPlink archer series.
Before buying a router model, always check the model number in WRT forums if it’s supported. Good luck

Buy a second AP router to act as a repeater. The reason is, built-in plug-n-play repeaters are inefficient and may cause difficulties
