Wimal’s new book to say all secrets of the JVP

Former JVP propaganda secretary and parliamentary group leader Wimal Weerawansa said yesterday he would expose the secrets of the JVP and the circumstances that led to his defection in a new book titled ‘Neththa Venuwata Eththa” (Truth in place of untruth), NFF sources said.

They said the book which is the maiden publication of the National Freedom Front – comprising ten JVP dissidents who crossed over from the JVP recently -- would be launched at the Mahaveli Center, 2008-06-24 tomorrow at 3.00PM.

NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa is also expected to speak on the contents of the book and his reasons for leaving the JVP.

Fidel Castro would have failed in his Cuban revolution had the present leaders of the JVP been there at the time, Weerawansa said at the launch of his publication 'Truth & Myth - Reasons Behind the JVP Crisis' in Colombo yesterday (June 24th).

He requested JVP activists to learn from experience, without relying on their leadership.

Party dissident, Wimal Weerawansa is a thief of intellectual property, says JVP Secretary, Tilvyn Silva.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo this morning (June 25th), Mr. Silva said that though Weerawansa’s book, launched yesterday, was titled ‘Nattha Wenuwata Attha’ (truth instead of myth), it should be the other way around (myth instead of truth).

It is the usual practice for the JVP to hand over documents pertaining to meetings of the Central Committee to its members and the documents are to be returned after discussion, the party secretary said.

However, he has used excerpts in his book after stealing the documents for years, the JVP Secretary said, adding that Mr. Weerawansa, who used JVP documents, is a thief of intellectual property.

Speaking further, he accused the dissident of hiding the truth and protecting the government by saying that a main reason for his leaving the JVP was the party's decision to leave the government.

In actual fact, the party had decided against joining the government after it went for a union with the Karu Jayasuriya faction, he said.

Pointing out that all the others who wanted the JVP to join the government are still with the party, its secretary said the true reason for Mr. Weerawansa's abandonment of the party was not mentioned even in his book.

The party is ready to explain those reasons any time, he added.
