The Chateau Frontenac is, according to the Guinness World Records, the most photographed hotel in the world. Built in the 19th and early 20th century by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, this hotel has become a symbol of Quebec City, the province, and of Canada. Perched on the top of a cliff and looking out on the St. Lawrence River, the hotel is placed in the route of history while also participating in it; in 1943 for instance, the hotel served as part of the accommodations for Churchill's and Roosevelt's discussions regarding WWII. The hotel is a Canadian Chateau Style structure. Other hotels by the CP Railway include the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, the Royal York in Toronto, and The Empress in Victoria.
