No spamming please. Only discuss things related to this thread...please!

This is what you need.
http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroCDSpeed_47715.zip

Download it and run it.
Find a DVD you burned recently.
Do a quality check @ 8X speed (Disc Quality Check).
Post your results with a screenshot like this.

This will also help people to choose the best media for their DVD burners...hopefully :)

P.S.
Different drives will count errors differently. For example, the number of errors shown by my Benq drive is for 4 blocks. Liteon drives show for 1 block each. So 8 errors of Benq drive is comparable to 2 errors of Liteon (I mean, error spikes...not the total errors)

With lot of experiance I can say LiteOn is the best.

Samsung - worst writer ever, doesnt support alot of media brands... :(

Sony - looks better in the first few weeks, but afterwards starts sucking alot :(

MSI - I'd say #3 in the list. Quiet :) & long lasting, But afteer about 2 years sucks alot :(. I'ts not very good in preventing crc errors in copying, burning... etc

ASUS - hmm shape. Sometimes pissu kelina scene ekak thiyenwa :(. But fairly good :)

Benq - #2 wage daanna puluwan.

LiteON- #1 pattama sira, Ive burnt like 300+ dvds in my rom & only like 2 of them failed, even those were due to overburning. Advantages includes cool firware upgrades :) :) :)

I have to create an account in an image hosting web site to post my benchmark :(

Anyways

You should know that Benq and LiteON are the same company. LiteOn bought Benq in 2006.

I have friends who have had bad expeeriences with LiteOn drives.

If I had to buy a DVDRW today, I would probably go with Asus.

You don't really need an account in imageshack or anywhere to upload an image.

hmm i realy dnt get dis..
    how r v goin 2 a conclutionwith these results???

is it from the qulity score mark??
    or from errors???
Quality score represents the errors, but not 100% accurately.

Lower the errors the better. (total as well as spike heights)

The maximum spike size should be 280 per block for PI errors and 4 per block for PI Failures. (most drives can't show jitter)

It means you are supposed to throw that DVD out and try some other brand.
This is the absolute maximum. You shouldn't even go half way there...

Yes. Some DVD Burners like some DVDRs...and dislike other DVDRs. There isn't a drive that performs perfectly with every DVDR. Sometimes the DVDRs will be of high quality but the incompatibilities with the DVD Burner will give a bad result. You have to test with different DVDs (Media IDs) abd when you find one that works perfectly, stick with it...Don't buy anything else.
