Your dream car from Geneva

There were plenty of impressive entries competing for the title of "dream car" at the 77th International Motor Show in Geneva, but the Bugatti Veyron turned the contest into a blowout

Our graphic designer was worried that putting the Veyron in the first gallery panel would skew the results, and perhaps it did, but there's no question that the $1.6 million racer packs speed and style. For speed, it has been clocked at 253mph and at 2.5 seconds from 0 to 62mph. And for style, just take a look.

The Koenigsegg CCXR may have been beaten by the Bugatti Veyron in the CNET News.com poll but it could avenge itself on the road in the near future. The CCXR sports a small lead in horsepower and runs on higher-octane ethanol, so it's a favorite to surpass the top speed of the Veyron. Koenigsegg is also converting its CCX lineup to use ethanol gas.

The Toyota Hybrid X, placed the in poll as a counterpoint to the sporty, high-performance exotic cars, came in third place in the voting. This car, which Toyota will attempt to sell to families, is probably the only one of the list that you'll ever see on a highway.

TalkBacker tedk7 writes, "Who in blazes dreams of a prius concept car?" But apparently a lot of people do.

The retro-looking Morgan Aero 8 America has been cleared for use in the United States. Perhaps it would have done better than fourth place if we had used this photo in the original gallery.

Fifth place is pretty good for cycle specialist KTM Sportmotorcycle, which built its first car, the exotic X-Bow concept, and put it on display at the Geneva auto show. The lightweight body is made of carbon fiber.

Zero to 62 in three seconds isn't fast enough for some people. The Gumpert Apollo Sport landed in sixth place despite its 8-cylinder, 800-horsepower engine. The driver sits way up front in this sports car.

At No. 7 comes a vehicle from Russia--from a carmaker that's been out of business for decades. The Russo-Baltique Impression has room for four passengers.

he eighth-place Donkevoort D8-210 uses a classic open-wheel roadster design and rides from 0 to 62 in 4.5 seconds.

Gruppo Bertone's 95th-anniversary roadster, a concept that's based on the style of the 1947 Fiat 500, did beat one competitor.

Maybe there's not much of a market for a see-through car. The Rinspeed Exasis came in last place, with less than 1 percent of the tally.
