EXISTING CUSTOMERS NOT AFFECTED YET - TRCSL

From : http://www.trc.gov.lk/broadband/217...-of-fup-for-new-fixed-broadband-packages.html

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka has given permission to two operators, Sri Lanka Telecom and Dialog Broadband to introduce Fair Usage Policy (FUP) into their new broadband packages. TRCSL’s position on FUP for existing customers however will remain unchanged. In other words, there would be no FUP for existing customers. They will be given an opportunity to switch from their existing unlimited package to a new package with FUP, at a reduced monthly rental. However TRCSL’s will continue its study on unlimited services to analyze the usage patterns of subscribers and policies will be introduced if necessary.

:no::no::no:
So any connections bought after the 25th of May 2011 are subjected to the FUP.... it is however unclear... SLT and Dialog are yet to update there websites even though few months ago they made huge issue in a hurry. So may be the 60% for unlimited speed limit mark is OK to them? because the FUP was applied when the speed limit was 80%.... :baffled: It was known fact that SLT was giving speeds at 50% (25KB/s) before the TRCSL introduced speed limits...

What to do bro this was inevitable.

Nice way to become the Information Hub of Aisa... :lol: India ISP's are better, they have true Unlimited package... but at around Rs. 4500LKR per month... I don't mind paying that for true Unlimited...

My last month usage is like 50GB I think... this month I don't think its even 20GB.... In February my usage was like 80GB eh... Depends on how much work I do :/

    It means that these ISP's are not intended to increase their International Bandwidth in near future...

    No, ISP's want to earn more money so the government gets more off the 20% Levy... The FUP issue no more than a attempt to make more money off the booming internet usage in the country. FUP's are going to be worse in the future because there are too many FREE internet connections given by the government.
