    The 3 essentials which the plaintiff should prove in a civil action against A defendant in a negligence case on the balance of probabilities are;

    1. Defendant owed the plaintiff a duty of care.
    2. Defendant had failed to conform to the required standard of care.
    3. There was a sufficient connection in law between the defendants action and the damages suffered by the plaintiff.

    Duty of care.
    The defendant must owe a certain responsibility to the plaintiff, on which plaintiff should prove that responsibility at the trial on the balance of probabilities.

    Standard of care.

    Given the fact that the defendant owed a duty of care, to which extent actually the care has to be exercised, is defined in standard of care.
