    • Some series build its story orderly by Initializing , developing and finally ending the same story
    Ex:- Prison Break , 24

    • Some like Mentalist produce a whole new story on each episodes
    And finally

    • Some like Fringe initialize a story which appeared to be a completely new story and evolve it to the point which can be connected to the core/main story, developed by previous episodes

I think X files falls under case 2 or 3
And case 3 kind of series are preferable to me, according to the degree or strength that each episode bear to its main story and how they connect it.

If you are saying X file belongs to type 2 then definitely I dont like it .

If its type 3 either I dislike how they connected or since I watched it long time ago I wasnt grown enough as I do now. :)

Prison break is for faggots! are you a faggot?

the x files belong to the first category clearly. if you've seen it from the season 1, you'd know.

I dont know if prison break is for fagots or not as I havent seen it so wont comment on that.
X Files belongs to that first category you mentioned. throughout one season, it has one main story arc with each or several episodes having mini stories.

Since there wasnt many other watchable series at that time , I have seen X files episodes on rupavahini and I cant recall any explicit connection between those :S

I think it falls under cat 3 then.

Doesnt matter, im gonna give it a watch as I find some time and find myself

Give it a try on Prison Break sometime.
But stop from season 01 all other 3 series sucks big time

it's not only my opinion it's a fact that x files had a main story known as mythology, that centered around government schemes and aliens. and they had a few stand alone episodes here and there with monsters and stuff. that had nothing to do with mythology. the mythology theme expanded to the end of the seventh season, and apparently beyond that, i dont really know anything happened after the 8th season.

in my opinion, x files will never be topped :P good sci fi, good philosophy, good Forensic stuff, good detective story, many tv series' tried to follow x files but failed.
and Mulder and Scully were the perfect couple that had awesome chemistry.

Wonder if you watched X files from season 1 onwards. I watched it on TV from the beginning and in season one there was a specific story ark (aliens do exist, they abducted humans and govt. knew about it). While there were some standalone episodes, most were tied up to that main story.

I watched prison break on TV season 1 and stopped watching it half way as I didnt like it. Not gonna watch it again. Season 1 or any other season.

Yeah, somewhere in the middle of the seasons, X Files went totally haywire. I guess even they didnt know where it was heading. The final 2 seasons were good as it went back to the roots and began to tie up to the original story line again.
X Files was a pioneer TV series at many levels while remaining unique as a whole. It portrayed a leading couple that wernt a couple but still had excellent chemistry. Good character development in all of the main characters. Fantasy was kept at a plausible level and never was outlandish. Good philosophical and moral debates.
No other series comes close to it.

Theres a series called Fringe that follows X files . Apparently its not a total failed in doing so

now i've got an idea :)

what was ever so confusing about it :)

Yeah, somewhere in the middle of the seasons, X Files went totally haywire. I guess even they didnt know where it was heading. The final 2 seasons were good as it went back to the roots and began to tie up to the original story line again.

yeah, in the seventh season the mythology was quite lost. I think Cris Carter wanted to end it but Fox were pushing it. so it definitely it had lost its driving force.
I loved the intuition I could get from watching x files, almost in every episode, they explored another side of the human.

Plus, Mulder's dry humor added so much to the series. many eps managed to be quite funny while being all serious.

The cult status x files acquired will always be unmatched.

I haven't got the time to waste on tv series' anymore. and If you haven't seen x files from the start, may be it's safer not to make a parody of yourself by talking outa your ass :)

I don't think I'll like Prison Break, why watch something you are gna hate anyway.

    deep meaning එක තේරුණේ නෑ ... මිනිහෙක්ගෙ ඇතුලාන්තය :)

I don't think there was anything deeply meaningful in that film, it was a mediocre film, made great by Al Pacino :P

eventhough his performance there was oscar worthy, I wish he had won it for GodFather II, Scarface or dog day afternoon.

Nothing can follow x files. Following x files would be to reboot the series.

Nope. I didnt watch from s01
then stop discussing it or comparing other series to it. It will only make you look stupid.

Prison Break season one is indisputably awesome
the word is "undisputed" and its disputed all right.

thats why I said they sorta gave the oscar for this as a form of an apology for not giving it for any of those movies. They probably wanted to give him an oscar for best actor before he got out of acting or died.
