Teledrama actress involved in prostitution arrested

A teledrama actress involved in a prostitution racket has been arrested by the Mirihana police.

Police said that the actress in her early 20's had claimed that she was involved in prostitution as she wanted to raise money for her father's medical expenses.

Police said that she had acted in several teledrams as well as in some of productions done by an Indian company.

Gehenu Lamai Tele actress nabbed for prostitution:

Another Tele drama actress involved in prostitution via a cell phone communications was nabbed yesterday afternoon the (9th) by the Athurugiriya Police.
She has portrayed roles as a lady doctor in “Kidurangana”,as a school girl in ‘Gehenu Lamia”, and a sister’s role in “Sihina Kumari” Tele dramas. Her name is Nayana Dhananjani Perera as reported by the Police.
The OIC of the Nugegoda division ‘Emergency Investigation Unit”, Bathiya Jayasinghe had followed a clue about her activities had deployed a ‘decoy’ to telephone her and fix an appointment. She had consented to meet this person at a certain place at Athurugiriya for a professional fee of Rs 5000/-
After meeting she had taken the ‘decoy’ to a room in a reception hall. This was followed by a team of Police Officers and had arrested her. It is learnt that she had been indulged in this lucrative business for some time and she is still only 20 years old. She had been in this business while she was involved in Tele drama and modelling fields.
She had posed for many front page photographs of many newspapers and tabloid editions. These days she had been rehearsing for an Indian Tele drama in Sri Lanka.

She is to be produced to courts very shortly.
