This is the profile pic on Vincent Silva’s Facebook page. It shows his brother Dumindha Silva, head obscured by a hood, apparently on his feet. The MP recently survived at least two bullets to the head in a gunfight that left former MP Bharata Lackshman and bodyguards dead. Despite being surrounded by guns and with ordnance in his head, Dumindha is not a suspect in the murder and was recently airlifted out of the country with government and I think Air Force support.
I wish him health and wisdom, and a trial. Certainly removal from the party and Parliament. He has a history of violence, violence against women and credible accusations of underage rape. Many thought that shooting a Presidential Adviser on the streets would finally remove Dumindha from the government’s good graces but it hasn’t, to their disgrace.
It seems that he’s up and walking (rumors were that he was paralyzed) which is good on a human level, but on a legal level, he’s a serious homicide or at least manslaughter suspect and certainly not fit to be an MP. The power of his money and votes is such, however, that Dumindha looks likely to recover what he doesn’t deserve, and seemingly get away with murder.
