Former Dutch Hospital - Colombo's new "Shopping Precinct"​

A new shopping precinct at the former Dutch Hospital of Colombo opened for public on, 02 Dec as the latest tourist attraction in the city.

An effort of Tourism Development Authority and Urban development Authority has resulted in much awaited launch of the former Dutch Hospital of Colombo as a shopping precinct.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Minister of Economic Development, Hon Basil Rajapksa and Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Independence Square and adjacent area opened for public​

The Independence Square and its adjacent area was declared opened for public, Saturday (Dec 03), evening by the Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka in the gracious presence of Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The site will be open for public 24x7, including the newly constructed bikers' path and the walking lanes that run across the National Library and the national Archives Department.

The site renovation work was initiated under the close supervision of Secretary Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa - yet another public project by the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development.

The Tri-services Commanders, Police Chief, Military Liaison Officer Maj. Gen (retd) Palitha Fernando, Chairperson national Rupavahini Corporation Mr. Mohan Samaranayake and many other distinguished individuals were also present at the occasion.
