Hy Bro these are the some details, there are many cloud computing platforms, but mainly there is

1. Microsoft Azure
2. Google App Engine
3. Amazon Web Services

You Can use any of these for free but there is a limit

For technologies they use (Note : I am only giving u a high level overview)

1. Microsoft Azure
.NET Based Technologies and Azure SQL (SharePoint Integration/Business Inelegance etc..)
Same as anyother .NET Technologies there are huge lot i can't tell u here

2. Google App Engine
Java, Python 2/3 and Googles Go Language and Google App Script - Kind of Google based Java scripting, for DB they use Google Big Bite Data Tables and SQL Queries with OLDBC Connections

3. Amazon Web Services
Java, PHP, C#, Ruby, Perl and many others, They provide a wast variety of services from cloud visualization - where u can use a pc from a cloud based enviornment, cloud storage, development (EC2/Elastic Storage)

For usages there are many from developing independent applications without hardware structure etc.. (Example: Google Apps - A solid Cloud based platform where u can manage all you business needs such as email, calender, collaboration etc.. without needing to set up separate servers etc..)

Cloud based Technology is good but don't believe that it will make everything cloud based it will certainly make about 50% of today it infrastructure cloud based but still normal hardware will be required in running some applications like huge distributed applications etc/.....

There is a platform to connect android to a cloud service if u could explain me what exactly is ur required function i could be able to give a exact solution
